Stout Hearts was conceived over a cool stout on a hot night in August, 1996.
Since then, we've progressed from a group of young professionals looking
for another excuse to have a party to committed fundraisers supporting charities
dedicated to strengthening U.S. - Irish bonds. The highlight of the year's
activities is the Blarney Ball. Over the past five years, our ball has raised
over $150,000, providing an opportunity for hundreds of youngsters to come
to the States as part of the Project Children
program.
The Stout Hearts don't stop the revelry after the Ball. Additional events
throughout the year include shows, concerts, and fundraisers for Project
Children and Belfast Habitat for Humanity; including the Leprechaun Limousine
Races and Golf Tournament.
Stout Hearts is also committed to support Project Children through Big
Buddies. This program assists the Project Children host families by organizing
events like trips to amusement parks, picnics, and baseball games.
As our group has grown, Stout Hearts have proven adept at finding new
ways of supporting Project Children and having a great time doing it.
If you'd like to get involved in Stout Hearts, help with any of these
events, or become a Big Buddy for a Project Children child, please feel
free to contact us on our hotline at (202) 737-4949, or email us at volunteers@stouthearts.org.
